Our Yoga Instructor

Charlotte Saint Jean has been teaching yoga since 2002. With teacher training in the Sivananda Vedanta School, with Shiva Rea (Vinyasa), David Swenson (Ashtanga), Lara Bauman (Quantum) and Sarah Powers (Yin/Insight Yoga) she has integrated their teachings and inspirations into her own unique style whilst respecting the traditions of this ancient practise. Passionate about music, Winter sports, trail running and the mountains Charlotte now lives with her two daughters in the Savoie mountains (Val d’Isere/Tignes). Her personal practise and the benefits in her own life are her main inspirations to share and teach this wonderful art of yoga. Her teaching is the reflection of a healthy and happy life full of gratitude and joy.

Charlotte is the founder of the online yoga web site, has produced two DVDs and is the creator of the Yoga Festival Val d'Isère which will enjoy its third edition in May 2015.

What is Vinyasa Yoga : Sri Krishnamacharya defined vinyasa as a cycle or a circle with a beginning, middle and end. The intelligent unfolding of a sequence of practise, of life or of nature. The cycle of vinyasa is also often described as a wave – an arc in space and time. Life is a Maha Vinyasa from its beginning to its end. How we connect to this Maya vinyasa and the current of life is our choice – Vinyasa Yoga is a way of allowing us to feel this flow and the constant vibration of the universe both around us and within us and to move with and not against the eternal circle of life. Based on Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga is the search for balance between the solar- heating and dynamic elements - and the lunar - calming, grounding elements. Just as with Hatha (Sun/Moon) Vinyasa Yoga seaks the balance and harmony in our practise and that of the environment or the day’s activities. Through the sequences of flowing postures we seek the harmony of breath and movement, between alignment of the physical body, awareness of the mind and of the present moment we inhabit.

Our Pilates Instructor – Sarah Sissons

Sarah Sissons initially trained as an Occupational Therapist and worked in psychiatry. In 1989 Sarah moved to France and set up her company “Equilibre”. She has trained as a sports therapist, reflexologist and Pilates teacher and uses the varied skills she has learnt over the years to help provide her clients with treatments to fit their individual needs.

Sarah qualified as a Pilate’s teacher 12 years ago, completing her initial training with “Body Control Pilates”. She subsequently trained with the “Pilates Institute” in Switzerland to enable her to teach fluently in French.

In 2011 Sarah did her machine training with “APPI” (Australian physiotherapy and Pilates Institute). She continues her professional development and regularly attends courses in Europe, particularly in London. This year she participated in a four day training course, working with international teachers trainers, from the Balanced Body teaching facility.
